Park played a development game introducing a number of under 16's, to a completely different side from the day before. Having put 50 points past Gosforth at Druid Park with our full strength squad this was a chance to blood some of next years potential players while hopefully matching a Gosforth side devoid of any under 18's.

Not a great game, again littered with mistakes by both sides with Park having a slight edge in the forwards against a good Gosforth back line who always threatened to score. Poor covering and tackling led to both tries by Gosforth one of which was converted for a 12 - 0 half time lead.

County Cup game against Wallsend OFF

The quarter final game away to Wallsend, which was due to be played on Wednesday 14th April 2010, is not going ahead. Wallsend have conceded the game as they are unable to raise a 1st XV due to injuries and unavailabilities. This means Park's name is first in the hat for the semi final draw which will take place on Wednesday evening after the results of the other three games are know.

The semi finals are due to take place on Wednesday 21st April 2010. More details to follow.

Park travelled the short distance to face Shields on a lovely spring morning and came away deserved winners from this tight but exciting encounter.

Despite losing two front rowers prior to warm up the Park lads were well "up for it" today. Park began keeping the ball through a number of phases, crashing it up and retaining possession well. The first time Shields got the ball they tried to run it through their backs but were penalised for crossing on their 10 metre line. Paul Spowart kicked the penalty with plenty to spare for an early 3 - 0 lead.

I was trying to think up a snappy title for this week’s match report – “Three in a row”, or “Battling Park preserve North 1 league status”. Then at the “End of Season Party” to see several of the 1^st XV on the dance floor led by Scotty, in a line with right arms swinging in the air, facing the band and singing Journey’s power ballad, it came to me in a flash, and fair brought a tear to the eye.

Seeing so many players there from all the sides, but all the 1^st XV players to a man, supporting a club function was great and showed the true spirit of the club,(ok Fidler was baby-sitting) but his mam and dad were there!

Anyway back to the game. Park started at a rare pace, and spent the first 10 minutes or so camped in the visitors half, until they were awarded a penalty which Rutter kicked to open his account. Lee Birch for Driffield responded with a penalty of his own then on 21 minutes the pacey young centre, scored an excellent individual try carving his way through the Park backline to score under the posts and then kicked the conversion to give his side a 10 – 3 lead.

RFU Grand Draw 2010 Results

The 2009/10 Grand Draw was made at the end of March this year. Unfortunately this year, the club had no winners but managed to make over £3000 due to the amount of tickets sold. The Management Committee would like to thank everyone who either sold or purchased tickets for this years draw. A complete list of winners is shown below.
