Slow start but Park win in the end

STOCKTON 3 - 14 PERCY PARK

Once again after a slow start Park ground out a win away from home to cement their third place in Durham & Northumberland 1. The team travelled to Station Road, Norton, with few changes from the side that won away at Ryton last week.

George Purdy was moved up from the bench with the unavailability of Chris Reekie, and Giles Tipsword returned to the squad after recovering from a rib injury. The squad was completed by a last minute reshuffle with coach Paul Jobson sitting on the bench for Jimmy Baldwin who elected not to travel.

Percy Park 13 - 12 Horden

This was the third meeting of the two sides this season, and, as in the previous encounters it was a close run thing, but Park emerged victorious to complete the league double over Horden and maintained the pressure on the sides at the top of Durham and Northumberland 1.

RYTON 0 - 29 PERCY PARK

Having been cancelled on two previous occasions due to a frozen pitch, the game originally scheduled for 15th December 2007 took place at Ryton, with Park running out eventual winners 29 - 0. Conditions were near perfect with no wind which must be a first for the normally exposed Barmoor ground.

Percy Park had made a couple of changes to the side that defeated Horden last week, with seventeen year old Rich Berne coming into the side at full back, for fellow Under 17 Ash Smith who had a school game in the morning. Chris Reekie came in at loose held to allow Michael Langlands to revert to his more accustomed position in the back row. Ryton lost Duncan Simpson due to a mid week injury so veteran Robin Scott moved from blind side to number 8.

Percy Park 24 - 16 Whitley Bay Rockcliff

It was Park's turn to host this year's annual derby game, and thankfully the frosty weather which had blighted the previous two week's Ist XV fixtures, gave way to almost spring like conditions, which brought out a large crowd, anxious to blow away the festive cobwebs.
