Honours were even for the first 18 minutes, although Park could have been in front from a Morse drop goal attempt which was disallowed, and a follow up penalty went wide of the upright. Brett Sylph was stand in captain for the day with skipper Greg Dixon at his brother's wedding, and it was the Park number 8 who set up the first try with a rampaging run from the retrieved 22 drop out. Brett was stopped short of the line, but Michael Langlands was in support and took the pass to go over the line for the visitors first points of the day. Morse converted.
Phil Morse at fly half for Park was getting the back line moving, and making territory from good ball won by the forwards, and a fine handling move saw centre Liam Casey make a break deep into the Gosforth half. When Casey was tackled, Brett Sylph was on hand to pick up the ball and made another try scoring pass this time to lock Craig Fidler who went over for the try. Morse made good the extra points and with 23 minutes on the clock Park led by 14 points to nil.
Brett Sylph, man of the match in 3 of Park's previous games was making a habit of setting up tries, and after another powerful run set up wing Thomas Turnbull for the score under the posts, and again Morse was accurate with the conversion. Park's forwards were dominating their green and white counterparts, and were starving the home pack of any meaningful possession particularly in the line out.
Shortly before the break Park prop Alan Blakey made a strong run into the home defensive line resulting in a penalty for offside which Morse slotted. The never say die attitude of the Gosforth side however, that saw them come back from a 22 - 0 deficit to win against Alnwick saw fly half Stu Campbell cut the Park lead with a jinking run through their defence to score and then convert his own try, and at half time home side trailed 7 - 24.
For the first 13 minutes of the second period there was no further score, until Brett Sylph pick up a loose ball on the Gosforth 10 metre line and sprinted to the line taking the 2 covering defenders over the line with him, and after Phil Morse again converted Percy Park stretched their lead to 7 - 31.
Park scored again moments later, after a good series of rucks, with hooker Andy Dunn picking up and driving for the line. Although stopped just short, Thomas Turnbull was on hand to snipe through and go over for his second try of the day. Morse was again on target.
Gosforth now had to resort to catch up rugby, and from a quickly taken free kick ran into heavy Park traffic with Sylph coming up with the ball and off loading to Giles Tipsword who powered up to the line and dabbed the ball down. The try was not given but prop George Purdy was on hand to go over the line to make certain. With Phil Morse off the field and Ashleigh Smith on, the replacement fly half was just wide with the conversion attempt. The youngster's nerves were settled soon afterwards however when he kicked a penalty when Gosforth were judged offside.
At 46 points to 7 up Park seemed to incur the wrath of the referee, and conceded a series of penalties resulting in Sylph being yellow carded with 7 minute of the game remaining. The home side capitalised on the numerical advantage and scored 2 tries in quick succession, with Matt Steele barrelling his way over in the corner, and then soon after replacement scrum half John Rooney went over after a quick tap penalty. Both conversions were missed, and at the end Percy Park had won 12 - 46 in an entertaining game.
Percy Park Lions were given a mauling at the hands of Westoe 50 - 0, largely due to the number of unavailable players. Park Pumas defeated Blyth II 24 - 27 away from home. Park's only home game of the day was cancelled at the last minute when Blyth phoned up to cancel the game against Percy Park Marauders.
