The first 7 minutes of the game were evenly matched until Marcus Turner broke the deadlock for Park as he powered through home side defensive line taking 2 players with him over the line to score. Phil Morse, who was in the team following a bad eye injury to Marcus Rutter, just missed the conversion effort.
Park scored again on 14 minutes when Novos had been penalised for holding on in the tackle, and Morse kicked to the corner, where prop Alan Blakey scored from the resulting catch and drive from the line out. Morse kicked the more difficult conversion this time and Park were in the lead 0 - 12.
Park's backs were playing better than in previous weeks with quicker possession, and centre Liam Casey scored Park's next try after the ball was recycled from a short line out move. Michael Langlands took the ball up from hooker Andy Dunn and Chris Reekie cleared out the ruck to allow quick ball to Casey who danced and dummied his way through what remained of the Novos defence. Morse kicked the easy conversion.
At this stage Park were scoring at the rate of a point a minute, and Langlands got in on the act when, after a good pick up from the base of the scrum, number 8 Reekie, popped the ball to Baldwin who handed on to fullback Dave Griffiths. Although Griff was tackled short of the line, Langlands was in support to take the pass to crash over to take the score line to 0 - 24.
Stand in fly half Phil Morse was having an excellent game, getting the backs going forward, and the visitors next try came from a miss pass to Casey who linked with fullback Griffiths coming into the line at pace. There was still a lot of work to do but Griffiths made the last 25 metres, beating the cover defence to score close to the posts to make the Morse conversion a formality.
Marcus Turner scored his second try on 35 minutes and shortly before the interval Park took a 43 points lead into the second half with a try by Andy Dunn, after a quick tap penalty by Baldwin put the hooker into space to score.
The second half started in much the same vein as the first half had ended. Chris Reekie took the ball into the Novos mid field and passed to Morse in support who found Marcus Turner who put wing Rich Berne into space. With support on his left, the Park winger had a touch of white line fever and tried to go on his own but was stopped short of the line. Fortunately Morse was on hand in support to score and save the blushes of the Park rookie in his debut IST XV game.
With the game already in the bag, and with a cricket score looming, Novos found a different gear and had their best spell of the game, keeping the Park side out for a 15 minute spell. During this period Park's lock, retired Phoenix Arizona's Police Lieutenant, Tipsword was sent to the slammer for 10 minutes for some skull-duggery, but the Park pack with a man down still managed to out scrumage the Novos eight.
Having credited Wayne Dobson with a try in the match report last week, which was in fact scored by Brett Sylph, the Park second row genuinely did get on the score sheet with a try of his own after good work by George Purdy who took out several defenders in a bullocking charge for the line. Percy Park used all four subs in the game with Andrew M Dunn coming on for Phil Morse at fly half, but given the kicking duties he was wide with his conversion attempt.
With Tipsword back on the field after his ten minute breather, it was he who gave the scoring pass to Rich Berne for Park's next try, drawing the last man to put the Park left wing in unopposed. This time fly half Dunn scored the extra points with the help of the left upright.
Park's final score of the game came from young Chris Reekie who had an excellent all round game, starting at number eight and moving to the front row. With jibes of 'honey monster' from the Novos balcony, Reekie, affectionately known as 'Tank' finished of a catch and drive from a line out 10 metres from the home side's line. Andrew Dunn kicked his second conversion and Percy Park are now in the third round draw after a 67 - 0 win.
Back at Preston Avenue, Park's Pumas and Marauders had also won convincingly against Alnwick. The Pumas won 55 - 0, and the Marauders 77 - 0, a total points tally just short of 200 between the 3 sides to none against. Next week Park Ist XV resume league duty away to Gosforth on their new artificial pitch at Druid Park, with the Lions away to Westoe, Pumas away to Blyth, and Marauders at home to Blyth.
On Sunday afternoon Scotland Exiles U20 take on Scottish Districts at Preston Avenue kick of 1.30 pm.
