Park lost 36-14 at Morpeth in the semi final of the Northumberland Senior Cup, and the home side will now go on to play Tynedale who won the other semi final 22 - 20 against Northern.

Morpeth started more strongly than Park and were rewarded for their efforts after 6 minutes, with the first try by their skipper Alan Rogers.

Fly half Matthew Jinks kicked an inch perfect cross field kick straight into the hands of the left wing, who caught the ball and dabbed it down. Jinks then converted from the touchline and Morpeth had an early lead 7 - 0.

The home side scored again inside 10 minutes when from a wheeled scrummage on the Park 10 metre line, Rory Morrison picked up and charged for the line beating the last tackle to score, with Jinks converting again.

Percy Park kept in touch with a try by Liam Casey playing in the centre, and it was his centre partner Marcus Turner who made the try with a surging run through the Morpeth defence, brushing aside wouldbe tacklers to off load to Casey to score under the posts. Full back for the day, Marcus Rutter converted to make the score 14 - 7.

Alan Rodgers capitalised on a lack of communication in the Park back 3, when full back and wing let a seemingly safe ball bounce, which the Morpeth captain snapped up to run in for the try, which the unerring Jinks converted.

With only 20 minutes gone, referee Les Gutteridge pulled a hamstring and had to make way for touch judge Wayne Falla, who continued the game, and at half time Morpeth were comfotably in the lead 21- 7.

The Mitford Road side continued in the same vein in the second half, and once again a well directed chip kick allowed Alan Rogers to score his hat trick of tries. Park were not about to give up and scored the best try of the game when the ball was shipped through several pairs of hands to wing Mark Clarkson, who made several yards before passing to Turner, who finished off the try which Marcus Rutter converted.

Matthew Jinks kept the score board ticking over with a drop goal and then killed off the game for the home side with an individual try, again from a chip kick over the defence which he gathered and scored under the posts. The conversion took the final score to 36 - 14.

Park's IstXV have a week off this Saturday, with the final league game of the season next week away to Hartlepool Rovers.
