The score line kind of flattered Park, and although 6 tries to 1 tells its own story, the home side still didn't fire on all cylinders. Gosforth were missing several of their regulars due to injury, and Percy Park too missed key players for the same reason, but ground out a clear win in a scrappy sort of game.

Gosforth had the first chance of the game when Park were offside in midfield, but kicker Stu Campbell's effort went wide of the mark. On 5 minutes however Rutter kicked a penalty for a 3 - 0 lead. Both sides competed well for possesion, and on 10 minutes the green and whites scored a fine try when centre Mike Jurowski made a break wide out on the left hand side of the pitch, and then passed to Johnston on the wing who sped for the line. With only the last Park defender to beat the ball was popped back inside to Jurowski in support, and the veteran scored under the posts. With the conversion Gosforth led 3 - 7.

Percy Park responded almost immediately when the skipper powered over the line after  good break by Simon Greetham took the home side within 10 metres of the Gosforth line. Rutter made good the extra points and Park were back in the lead.

With Craig Firth out with an injury, Ali Blair came into the side on the right wing, and finished off a difficult scoring opportunity on the right flank. The conversion was not an easy one, so the score remained 15 - 7, but Park now had more of the territory and possession.

Left wing Liam Blackburn soon gt in on the act and scored a good winger's try wide out, and with only the full back to beat decided on the maori side step and bundle the Gosforth defender out of this way, and dived over the line to score, and on half time Park took a 20 - 7 lead into the break.

Gosforth held out without conceding any further points for 10 minutes into the second period, before Park talisman Sylph scored his second try of the game after picking up the ball from the base of a 5 metre scrum near the visitors line. This time Rutter mad no mistake with the conversion, and the points tally was begining to rack up.

Almost immediarley after, Park found themselves pressuring the Gosforth defence once again, and hooker Tom Pollock picked up a loose ball at the side of a ruck and galloped the 30 yards or so to the line leaving the 2 convering defenders in his wake.

Soon after the try, Park prop Purdy was in binned for over vigourous rucking by referee Stu Cockburn, but even with numerical disadvantage, Park managed to score a further try, this time by Phil Morse, who had come on at fly half to replace Thomas Turnbull. Mark Walton who hd also just come on the pitch from the subs bench, picked an excellent line to carve his way through the Gosforth defence, and Morse was on hand to take the final pass to score under the posts. With the Rutter conversion on 68 minutes Park led 39 - 7.

With almost 15 minutes of the game remaining, with injury time, Park expected to rattle up several more points to improve their points difference in the league which, may prove crucial at the end of the season, but the Druid Park side, defended admirably and kept Park out for the remainder of the game.

Percy Park Lions, lost their unbeaten record to Gosforth II, by 12 - 5. Park scored the only try of the game, but spurned several try scoring opportunities according to coach Paul Jobson. Meanwhile Park Pumas iflicted a heavy defeat on Berwick Badgers, winning 84 - 7. Park Marauders ere also in action against North Shields II, and lost narrowly, still looking for their first win of the season.
