North Shields 5 Percy Park 13

Park travelled the short distance to face Shields on a lovely spring morning and came away deserved winners from this tight but exciting encounter.

Despite losing two front rowers prior to warm up the Park lads were well "up for it" today. Park began keeping the ball through a number of phases, crashing it up and retaining possession well. The first time Shields got the ball they tried to run it through their backs but were penalised for crossing on their 10 metre line. Paul Spowart kicked the penalty with plenty to spare for an early 3 - 0 lead.

Gosforth 10  Park Academy 50

Percy Park travelled to Druid Park looking to avenge a narrow defeat in November and produced a great display of attacking rugby, running out convincing winners. Park started well, dominating the scrummage set piece and being very competitive in the line-outs. Gosforth constantly found themselves under pressure with Park's loose play from both forwards and backs generating lots of go forward. Tries followed through hard graft, guile and inventiveness with Spowart, Davis, Littlefield, Taylor and a brace by Dent, topped up with three conversions by Rutter making the half time score 0 - 38 to the visitors.

Alnwick v Park Academy

Percy Park travelled to Alnwick with a vastly understrength side due to senior call ups and illness resulting in the loss of seven forwards. Anlwick proved to be a strong, skillful side and totalling dominated the first half, parcially added by some inept Park tackling that was disapointing given recent work in training.

Northern 0 Percy Park 34

Percy Park finally got to play some rugby after five weeks layoff due to the weather. Park dominated for most of the game scoring three tries each half but looked a little rusty with many passes going astray. Slow ball at the breakdown hindered the fast flowing game that Park enjoy but overall it was a good introduction to the second half of the season. Tries through J. Dubois, M. Robson, A. Knox, Z. Rutter, H. Stock and M. Atkinson sealed the win against a plucky Northern side.

Blaydon 43 Percy Park 8

Park travelled to play Blaydon following a hard, physical game on the Saturday for the second time this season.

Despite a nuber of changes and rotation of players Park couldn't compete with the power and pace of the Blaydon backs and found themselves under the cosh for most of the first half. A solitary penatly kicked by Paul Spowart in answer to six tries ended the half at 36 - 3. Park could easily have thrown in the towel at this point but a couple of tactical changes and words of wisdom by James Pontin saw a very much more compedetive second half. Sean Williamson crashed over in the corner for Park's only try after pressure for most of the second half though disapointingly we leaked another try at the end of the match for a final score of 43 - 8.

No lack of effort but lots of basic skill errors highlighted the difference between our fledgling 17/18's academy side and Blaydon's strong 18's. The game simmered at times through previous history though Park to their credit held their discipline while Blaydon collected yellow cards.

Final Score: Blaydon 43  Percy Park 8
