Percy Park 16 Alnwick 10

Park built upon recent improving performances to edge out winners in an entertaining match.
Playing with the slope in the first half Park performed well in the lineouts and loose play, while holding their own in the scrums against a formidable Alnwick pack. Jack Davidson dived over in the corner for a  try to finish a good move, and despite some promising attacks through the backline it was the only score of the half.
Alnwick came out strongly in the second half but often conceeded penalties reIieving Park of pressure. Zac Rutter kicked a simple penalty to settle nerves a little before Alnwick scored a try through their forwards despite valiant defensive efforts on the line. A drop goal while under penalty advantage by Zac Rutter took the score to 11 - 5 before a fantastic Park attacking move led to Aaron Cottingham touching down to give us breathing space. Alnwick regrouped and finished the game with another try in the corner after concerted forward drives, again valiantly repelled for a number of phases by the outsized Park players. Conversion was missed and the final whisle blown at 16 - 10.
A great game of rugby with Park just about deserving of the win against very good opposition.

Final Score: Percy Park 16 Alnwick 10

Man of the Match: Howard Stock

Westoe 18 Percy Park 23

Park travelled across to Westoe to play an exciting and keenly contested fixture.

Facing up to a large skillful side Park played with the wind and slope in the first half and soon were awarded a penalty for offside in midfield, successfully kicked by Zac Rutter. The game was another good advert for colts rugby with both sides playing committed, skillful rugby. Westoe had a slight edge in the scrums though Park soon countered this by swapping tighthead and loosehead over to give a more stable platform to work from. Good work from Scott Taylor going down a wide blindside from an attacking scrum enabled him to offload to Aaron Cottingham for the winger to go over, converted by Jack Dent to make the score 0 - 10. Zac Rutter kicked another penalty before Westoe scored a try in the corner but were unable to convert. Park finished the half with a great attacking backs move resulting in Jack Dent diving over in the corner, unconverted, to make the half time score 5 - 18.

Against the conditions (and some very large forwards) Park spent some time defending but couldn't stop a drive over the line for a Westoe score to close the gap to 10 - 18. Despite this and having to defend Park tried hard to counter attack with some of the forward interplay and exchanges being a delight to watch.Westoe again went over for another try to set up an exciting finish to the game. A Matthew Atkinson break set up sustained possession inside Westoe's 22, and following a number of penalties Scott Taylor crashed over to settle Park's nerves a little. (15 - 23). Westoe replied with a penalty and then found that Park strangled the life out of the game with the forwards picking and driving a metre at a time for a good five minutes to run the clock down to the final whistle. A super game of rugby played against good opposition with a number of fine individual performances, none so more than Park's captain Sean Williamson who led from the front throughout the game.

Final Score Westoe 18  Percy Park 23

Man of the match: Sean Williamson

Wigton 23 Percy Park 3

Park travelled across to Cumbria on a fine day and enjoyed perfect playing conditions and warm hospitality from our hosts.

Park dominated the first half and were left scratching their heads at half time at how the score was only 3-3, with Zak Rutter kicking a penalty in response to an earlier Wigton effort. Park played most of the rugby in Wigton's 22, only for poor hands, drives being held up over the line and running over the dead ball line denying scoring points.

Percy Park 78 Ponteland 0

Park got back to winning ways in style against a large but disapointing Ponteland side. In a one sided encounter, first half trys were scored by D. McFarlane, R Watts(2), J Dent(2), A Galbraith, A Littlefield, J Davidson and M Robson for a 51-0 scoreline. Guys were introduced from the bench into the second half with another five trys being touched down through T Brodie(3), H Stock and S Williamson before the referee took pity on the opposition and shortened the game. Final score 78-0, though the referee had it at 88-0!
