Park were made to work hard for their win, against a well drilled Wallsend side, who had led by a single point early in the second half. Both sets of players will know they were in a game, with crunching tackles and no quarter asked or given, but Park maintain their position of second in the league.

Park lost today's encounter with league leaders Rovers,who played their "get out of jail free card" . Fair do's to the Friarage side they battled hard, and put up a great defensive display, and held on to a one point win against Park's 14 men.

Creighton RUFC 3 – 66 Percy Park RFC
After a fine team effort, Percy Park move on to Round 3 of the EDF Energy Senior Vase with a 66 – 3 win over lower league opposition Creighton. This competition is for sides at level 7 and 8 of the RFU leagues, and was the first cup game of the season with Park receiving a bye in round 1. The Cumbria side Creighton, had beaten Durham & Northumberland 2 side Winlaton Vulcans in round 1.
It's now 5 wins from 5, but Park slip from the top of the table following Rovers 15 try demolition of a makeshift Wallsend team, blighted by stag weekenditis. To say Northern haven't had the best of starts is an understatement, but the McCracken Park side often prove to be Park's bogie side, although the home side got off to a good start with an early try by prop Chris Reekie.
Three tries to one was the difference between the two sides today, although a last mininute attempt at a drop goal by Andrew Turner could have won it for the home side. Park out muscled a bigger Horden pack, and although Turner kicked 5 penalties to keep the Welfare Park side in the hunt, the visitors had the edge in the forward battle, and held out against the elements in the second half to retain top spot in Durham & Northumberland 1.
