Pre-season training gets underway officially on Monday 29th June at 7pm although many of the 1st XV squad have been weight training all through the close season. There is a distinct lack of rugby this weekend with the 1st XV, the Panthers and the Colts enjoying rest weekends.
However, the Lions make the journey to Ryton RFC this coming Saturday, KO 3pm.
And don't forget, the 2026 Six Nations reaches its climax this Saturday with all three games being screened live at the Club in addition to a number of televised Premier League games.
On Wednesday evening, our magnificent unbeaten Colts took to the field at Ashington RFC to face Gosforth in the final of the County Plate and what a night it was, the lads running out 61-7 winners to win the clubs first piece of silverware this season.
Gosforth took the game to Park in the first twenty minutes but incredible defence kept the city side at bay before our lads cut lose with a devastating display of running rugby that yielded nine tries courtesy of Joe Nicholson, Ewan Charlton, George Bogg, a brace from Noah Smith and an incredible four from No 8 Josh Cox. Standoff George Bogg kicked eight conversions.
The whole club extend huge congratulations to the team. Thanks must go to the players, coaches and management for their commitment and dedication that has made the club so very proud.
A league and cup double awaits!
