While the thoroughbreds on the Ist XV pitch refused at the first hurdle, the carthorses were let loose on the adjacent farmers field, and put on a fine display of rugby in bitter conditions to entertain the crowd disappointed that the league and cup double header was not to take place.

Another mid week game for the Lions, Park’s Development team, and another entertaining match, which I’m sure benefited both clubs. Seghill have struggled over the last 2 seasons, and it is good for club rugby in Northumberland that they are now able to field two regular teams.

PERCY PARK LIONS 31 – 7 CONSETT II
This was a good advert for development rugby, as both Park and Consett fielded young teams of players aspiring towards 1st XV rugby. The mid week game attracted a reasonable crowd who were entertained by two sides looking to play expansive rugby, and although the score line looks a little one sided in truth Park took the chances they had, and a resolute defence kept Consett at bay.Novos II 0 - 26 Percy Park Lions XV
