PERCY PARK LIONS 16 – 25 CORBRIDGE CENTURIONS
Percy Park were dealt a double blow losing both the 2nd XV and 5th XV Cup Finals to Centurions from Corbridge and Novocastrians respectively. The Lions started brightly with a good try from full back Alun Barlow, but Corbridge came back and took a strangle hold on the game, scoring 3 tries in the process winning 25 – 16, denying the Lions the chance of regaining the trophy lost last season against Alnwick II.
PERCY PARK PENGUINS 20 – 26 NOVOS CENTURIONS
Park’s 5th selected side started with a bang and were soon in front with a try from former club captain Greg Dixon. Although Park had the upper hand in the set piece and in the forwards, Novos young backs, once they had ball in hand made their possession tell with 4 tries. Greg Dixon went over for his second try after Phil Thompson had earlier crossed for Park’s second try. Although Park battled away at the Novos line late in the game, solid defence kept the Penguins at bay.
